Golden Globes Tonight! Expect a Somber Mood, for the Haitian Tragedy

The Golden Globe Awards are Tonight, amidst the aftermath of the Haitian earthquake; one of the worst natural disasters in recent history!

Yes tonight is one the most awaited events in Hollywood, The Golden Globe Awards. Presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, The Golden Globes is traditionally held at the luxurious, iconic Beverly Hilton in the heart of Beverly Hills, CA.

This event is normally a celebrated occasion, filled with glitz and glamour. However, this year’s event happens only days after one of the worst natural disasters in recent history, the Haitian Earthquake. There has been an outpouring of generosity from celebrities, on television and even Twitter. The “Text HAITI to 90999″ to donate $10.00 on your cell phone bill has been vastly successful.

I would expect that the producers of the show have been extremely busy changing the format of the Golden Globes, this year. Perhaps a short film, and a moment of silence for the lost? It is true, “The Show Must Go On!” but in this instance, it must be difficult for many of the Stars to wear a smile, when so many people are dieing in the rubble of collapsed buildings. What makes it worse is that these people of Haiti had virtually nothing to begin with. It is an extreme contrast to what we expect to find, walking on the red carpet.

With this in mind, The Daily Red Carpet sends out heartfelt condolences to the People of Haiti and our prayers go out to those who had so little and have now lost so much.
