From Iraq to the RED CARPET!

The founder of The Daily Red Carpet and President of DAILYREDCARPET.COM Inc., Stephen Crowley was once “Sergeant Stephen Crowley” a Combat Veteran who served in Iraq.

SGT Crowley in Kirkuk, Iraq, 2005.

Stephen Crowley first joined the Army in 1986, at the ripe age of 22. He served in the 2nd Armor Division “Hell On Wheels” at Ft. Hood, Texas and then the 3rd Armored Division “Spearhead” in Friedberg, Germany (the home to Elvis Presley’s Army Tour!).

Stephen was Honorably Discharged in 1990 and went on to work in Television Production. He eventually moved to Hollywood where he worked as a Scenic Artist and Set Painter!

After September 11th, Stephen was compelled to re-enlist in the US Army. He was eventually deployed to Iraq and attached to a Military Intelligence Company in Kirkuk Iraq. He lost two comrades to IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devices) SGT Crowley also survived a rocket attack when the 122mm artillery rocket failed to explode and bounced past him. He was awarded a Combat Action Badge in Iraq.

Returning home was surprisingly a bigger challenge than going to war. Stephen was diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and hearing loss. Stephen lost everything when his wife divorced him. He sought counseling with the local Vet Center to battle severe depression and PTSD.

He soon realized his only hope for survival would be to create something positive in his life. That’s when he began experimenting with blogs and eventually created The Daily Red Carpet!

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”

– Helen Keller.

Crowley also enrolled at Scottsdale Community College in the Film and Television Department. In a Creative Writing class, he wrote a Non-Fiction essay, “A MARBLE IN THE SAND” , which won 3rd place in Maricopa County Community Colleges and will soon be published. It was also featured on local Television, 3TV News at 10, with Carey Pena
