PS22 Chorus Reacts to Anne Hathaway’s Oscar Invitation! Remarkable!!

Beverly Hills, CA – The fifth graders who make up the Public School 22 chorus in Staten Island, New York will perform on the 83rd Academy Awards®, telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced today.

Cohen and Oscar® co-host Anne Hathaway were on hand Thursday night at the children’s annual Winter program to surprise the chorus members and their families with the news of the February 27 performance.

PS22 has gained recognition over the last few years through video sharing on YouTube. Begun in 2000 and comprised of over 60 fifth-graders, the chorus is directed by Gregg Breinberg. Over the years, the chorus has performed on “Good Morning America” and “VH1 Divas” as well as at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and at the National Tree Lighting ceremony at the White House.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.
